Dr. Thors is an active member of the European Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases as a member of the Committee for Scientific Affairs and Awards and is furthermore the president of the Icelandic Society of Paediatrics. He is also a member of the Scientific council at the Landspitali University Hospital and one of three members of the board managing paediatric specialty training in Iceland. He is a member of the specialist advisory group (NITAG) for childhood immunisations in Iceland.
