Acting Dean and Professor of Public Health in the Faculty of Health, University of Technology Sydney, Australia
My substantive post is Associate Dean (Research) and I operate as part of the executive of the faculty with overall responsibility for the faculty research management and strategy. My role includes strategic oversight of seven research centres encompassing the disciplines of, nursing, midwifery, sports and exercise science, health services management and public health. Since 2008 I have been a Chief Investigator on the World Health Organization study the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children study (HBSC), which takes place in 45 countries. Prior to joining UTS two years ago I worked at the Universities of Sheffield and Hertfordshire in the UK. My work has been funded by the NIHR, UK NHMRC Australia ESRC, Department of Health and the EU (Horizon 2020 and Marie Curie and NSW Health. I have a strong interest in the development of evidence informed policy and her work has been widely used across government agencies and I have been a commissioned author and expert advisor to the Chief Medical Officer, UK Cabinet Office, Number 10, Public Health England (PHE) on adolescent health. I am a founder committee member of the UK charity The Association for Young People’s Health (AYPH).
