Assistant Professor Iva Hojsak, MD, PhD, is a highly regarded pediatric gastroenterologist, serving as the head of the Referral Center for Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition and as the deputy director of the Children’s Hospital Zagreb, Croatia. Dr. Hojsak graduated from the Medical School of Zagreb, where she also earned her PhD. In 2019, she was appointed as an Assistant Professor at both the University of Zagreb Medical School and the University of J.J. Strossmayer Medical School.

With a prolific career in pediatric gastroenterology, Dr. Hojsak has published over 200 scientific and clinical papers and contributed to more than 15 international and Croatian scientific projects. Her extensive research has made significant contributions to the field, particularly in areas related to intestinal failure, parenteral nutrition, inflammatory bowel disease, and the role of probiotics in pediatric gastrointestinal health.

Dr. Hojsak has been an active leader within the European Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN), serving as the Education Secretary from 2017 to 2020. She is currently an associate editor for the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, a board member of the ESPGHAN Young Investigators Forum, and previously served as the secretary of the ESPGHAN Committee on Nutrition. She has also led the Scientific Committee at the Children’s Hospital Zagreb, further demonstrating her dedication to advancing research and education in the field of pediatric gastroenterology.

Her expertise in managing complex gastrointestinal conditions in children, along with her extensive research on intestinal health and nutrition, has positioned Dr. Hojsak as a leading figure in pediatric gastroenterology both in Croatia and internationally.
