Pediatric dermatologist, active board member of the European Society for Pediatric Dermatology, Basel University Children’s Hospital, (SW)

Dr. Jan Izakovic is a graduate of the University of Basel Medical School, Switzerland, where he received his general dermatology training followed by the Swiss Board Certification for Dermatology and Venereology. After having completed a one-year fellowship in Pediatric Dermatology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Phillip Frost Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery in 2000, he served as an attending physician and clinical instructor at the University Hospital of Basel, Department of Dermatology and as a consultant for Pediatric Dermatology at the Basel University Children’s Hospital.

From 2010 to 2013, Dr. Izakovic accepted an appointment as Associate Professor and Co-Director of Pediatric Dermatology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he also directed the Pediatric Dermatology fellowship program and thereby helped to train many national and international fellows and residents. Currently, he practices in Basel, Switzerland, both in a private setting and at the Basel University Children’s Hospital.  As a continuous voluntary faculty member of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, he lectures annually on topics related to Pediatric Dermatology. Being a clinically orientied pediatric dermatologist, Dr. Izakovic’s special interests include autoimmune and inflammatory skin disorders, photodermatoses as well as neonatal and genetic skin diseases. Dr. Izakovic is an active board member of the European Society for Pediatric Dermatology and the immediate past president of the Working Group for Pediatric Dermatology within the Swiss Society of Dermatology and Venereology.
