Professor in the department of Pediatric Rheumatology at the University Hospital Leuven, BELGIUM
Lien De Somer studied medicine and pediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Leuven (Belgium) and obtained an interuniversity degree in pediatric rheumatology at the University of Paris Descartes (France). Afterwards she completed a fellowship in pediatric rheumatology at the Hôpital Necker-Enfants Malades in Paris (France) and at the University Hospital Leuven (Belgium). Since 2015 she is a staff member in the University Hospital Leuven at the department of Pediatric Rheumatology and General Pediatrics.
She started her research activities with a PhD in biomedical Science in transplantation Immunology. At the moment she is working in close collaboration with the Laboratory of Immunobiology at the Rega Institute and Genetics of Autoimmunity at Leuven University, in a translational project studying genetics, cytokine and signaling pathways in the Pediatric Immune-Inflammatory Diseases.
