Merit Tabbers studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. After receiving her Medical degree, she was trained in Pediatrics at the Emma Children’s Hospital/Amsterdam UMC, The Netherlands. Subsequently, she worked as a fellow at the dept of Pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition in the Emma Children’s
Hospital/Amsterdam UMC.

Since 2007 she is a staff member in the Emma Children’s Hospital/Amsterdam UMC, The Netherlands at the department of Pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition. In 2011, her thesis was entitled “Evidence-based guideline
development in pediatric gastroenterology”. She is author of > 100 scientific publications and author of several national and international guidelines. She is chair of the intestinal failure working group of the European Reference Network for Rare Inherited Congenital Anomalies (ERNICA), chair of Core Outcomes in Nutrition Trials (COMMENT) working group of ESPGHAN and chair of the national guideline committee of the Dutch Association of Pediatrics. The focus of her current clinical and research work is intestinal failure, evidence-based guideline development and functional gastrointestinal disorders.
