Professor Isabelle Koné-Paut is a leading expert in pediatric rheumatology and the head of a renowned department at the Kremlin-Bicêtre Hospital, University of Paris Sud-Saclay. Her department, in collaboration with the Adult Rheumatology Department (led by Professor Xavier Mariette), was awarded the EULAR Center of Excellence for 2015/2020, underscoring its excellence in the field. Professor Koné-Paut also coordinates the national reference center for rare autoinflammatory diseases and inflammatory amyloidosis (CEREMAIA), which has been operational since 2007. CEREMAIA includes five constituent sites across France and is an integral part of the French network for rare autoimmune and autoinflammatory systemic diseases, FAI2R.

In addition to her role as a clinician and researcher, Professor Koné-Paut leads initiatives supporting children and adolescents with a range of inflammatory rheumatic conditions, including juvenile arthritis, spondyloarthritis, lupus, scleroderma, inflammatory myopathies, and systemic vasculitis. Her department sees over 300 patients with autoinflammatory diseases each year. As an advocate for clinical research, Professor Koné-Paut has made significant contributions to European and international research collaborations, including EUROFEVER, JIR cohort, PEDBD, and IMMUNAID. Her team developed the first-ever score to measure the activity of autoinflammatory diseases, AIDAI, which has become a vital tool for both patient care and research.

Professor Koné-Paut’s work extends to basic and translational research, particularly in the areas of autoinflammatory diseases (AIDs) and vasculitis, through collaborations with the CRB and the INSERM immunology unit. Her department has initiated or participated in over 30 clinical trials since 2006, contributing to the development of new therapeutic strategies.

Professor Koné-Paut has published extensively, with her most influential work focusing on Behçet’s disease, familial Mediterranean fever, CAPS syndromes, and Kawasaki disease. She has held leadership roles in academic societies, including serving as President of SOFREMIP (French Society of Pediatric Rheumatology) and as a board member of the French Society of Pediatrics, PRES, ISSAID, and the International Society of Behçet's Disease (ISBD). In 2016, she co-created an inter-university diploma in autoinflammatory diseases with Professor Touitou.

Additionally, Professor Koné-Paut established RESRIP (Pediatric Inflammatory Rheumatism Care Network), the first pediatric inflammatory rheumatism care network in the Paris-Ile-de-France region, further advancing care and collaboration in this specialized field. Through her groundbreaking contributions to research, clinical care, and education, Professor Koné-Paut continues to be a leading figure in pediatric rheumatology and autoinflammatory diseases.
