Emeritus Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children
Richard Trompeter is Emeritus Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. He was a consultant for thirty years, having established the dialysis and kidney transplant programme for children. He is also an Honorary Reader in Paediatric Nephrology at the Institute of Child Health, University College London. He continues to work as an Honorary Consultant in Nephrology at The UCL Centre for Nephrology having started the first transition clinic for teenagers and young adults with chronic kidney disease, based at The Royal Free Hospital. Publications include more than 100 peer reviewed papers, clinical reviews and editorials. His extensive clinical experience covers kidney and bladder problems in all ages of infants and children. He works as a medico legal expert witness in his specialist field and is a member of the Medico – Legal Society .He is on the Editorial Board of several scientific journals .He is a past President of The International Pediatric Transplant Association and of The Paediatric Section of The Royal Society of Medicine and is currently a member of The Ethics Committee of The European Renal Association. He is Chair of Trustees of Kids Kidney Research and a Trustee of the Association of Medical Registered Charities.
