Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, University of Oklahoma-Tulsa
Dr. Rupa DeSilva went to medical school at Albany Medical College in Albany, New York, and did her OB/GYN residency at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas. She then went on to do a fellowship in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology at Texas Children's Hospital/Baylor University in Houston, Texas. She now practices in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she has an active pediatric and adolescent gynecology practice and is also an Associate clinical professor at University of Oklahoma-Tulsa, where she is the head of education for the residency program and for the medical student clerkship. She has received recognition from the “Best Doctors in Tulsa” as well as from “America’s Top Obstetricians and Gynecologists” for the last 5 years. Dr. DeSilva has been active in the pediatric and adolescent gynecology community over the years. She is one of the original authors of pagwebed.org, that is now part of the North American Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology's educational armamentarium and meant to educate residents in Pediatrics and OBGYN in the intricacies of pediatric and adolescent gynecology. Dr. DeSilva has also received multiple grants to create websites to help teenage girls decrease risk taking behaviors. Located at www.girlsmarts.org, this site is geared towards helping adolescent girls decrease risk-taking behaviors through awareness and knowledge. Her additional goals include helping guardians have the knowledge to speak with their teens about family values/expected behaviors.
