Dr Kárpáti completed her medical studies at the Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary, specializing in dermatology-venerology and cosmetology, Dr Kárpáti’s PhD degree focused on Childhood dermatitis herpetiformis, with a DrSc degree on “ Autoimmune blistering skin diseases: New immunological and ultrastructural observations. Since 2004 Dr Kárpáti has been Chair of Dermato-Venereology and Dermato- Oncology Department, Semmelweis University with earlier positions including: Associate Professor and Professor at the Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary. Dr Kárpáti current scientific activities focus on: Autoimmune blistering skin diseases, transglutaminases in skin diseases, molecular biology of inherited skin diseases, pharmacogenomics, prenatal diagnosis of epidermolysis bullosa, melanoma genetics. Dr Kárpáti was President of the Hungarian Dermatological Society from 2006-2008, and Board member of the European Society for Dermatological Research (ESDR) from 2004-2009. In addition, Dr Kárpáti was a member of the Scientific Committee of the EADV from 2004-2008 as well as being a member of the International Committee of the EADV from 2009-2012. Dr Kárpáti has been the Associate Editor of the Journal of the Investigative Dermatology since 2007 and Editorial board member of the Bőrgyógyászati és Venerológiai Szemle (Hungarian) since 1994, the Journal of Dermatological Sciences since 2003, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology 2004-2008, European Journal of Dermatology since 2005, Dermatology since 2006 , Experimental Dermatology since 2006 and is also on the International Scientific Advisory Board of the Journal der Deutschen Dermatologischen Gesellschaft.
