Dr Sisko Honkala is a Docent in Oral Public Health in the University of Helsinki, Finland, and has been working as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry, Kuwait University (2000‒2005, 2009‒2014). She attained her basic Dental degree in 1993 from University of Kuopio, Finland, PhD in Oral Public Health in 1997 from University of Helsinki, Finland, the MSc degree in Community Dental Practice in 2006 at the King’s College, University of London, UK, and the specialist degree in Health Care/Public Health in 2009 from the University of Turku, Finland. Sisko joined the Finnish national team of the HBSC in 1993 when starting her PhD studies concerning adolescents’ oral health habits. Since then she has published results on oral health habits from the national and international data. When joined Kuwait University, she conducted a pilot study in 2002/2003 among 11- and 13-year-old schoolchildren by using the HBSC protocol. Kuwait University was accepted as a HBSC Linked Project in 2011; the full HBSC study will be conducted in 2015.
