Taco Kuijpers studied Medicine at the University of Amsterdam and started his own research project thereafter, resulting in a doctorate with distinction in 1992. He was a post-doctoral fellow in Seattle, Washington USA, prior to his training in Pediatrics and Clinical Immunology. Since 2018 he acts as the Principle Investigator of a national research consortium dedicated to B cell pathology and co-supervises a COVID-vaccination study linked to this research programme. His interests are both in innate and adaptive immune defects as reflected by long-standing research lines in immunodeficiencies and (auto)inflammation/immune dysregulation, as well as the biology of antibodies, complement and their cellular receptors.
