Dr Osvaldo Borrelli received his MD degree in Naples, Italy. His Paediatric training was completed at “La Sapienza” University of Rome (Italy), where he attended his PhD program in Paediatric Gastroenterology. He has been Consultant in Paediatric Gastroenterology in Italy for 7 years, and Consultant Gastroenterologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital since 2010. 

In August 2015 he became the Lead of the Neurogastroenterology & Motility Division, and since September 2016 he hold the position of Head of Department. His clinical interests embrace disorders of gastrointestinal motility, including GORD, Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome, chronic constipation, functional gastrointestinal disorders and chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction. Together with Dr Thapar and Dr Lindley, he runs a specialist motility centre for children with severe congenital and acquired gut motility disease, including Chronic Intestinal Pseudo-obstruction (CIPO). He is also the lead of the motility diagnostic lab at GOSH, where state-of-art diagnostic investigations are performed, including antroduodenal manometry and colonic manometry. Dr. Borrelli has been among the first clinical investigators to assess the diagnostic value of antroduodenal manometry in the diagnosis and management for severe gastrointestinal motility disorders. Currently, he is member of different international working groups on the development of new clinical guidelines for the diagnosis and management of CIPO, and on the standardization of complex motility investigations.
