Professor of Health Psychology and Behavioural Medicine, Babes-Bolyai University
Adriana Baban is Professor of Health Psychology and Behavioural Medicine at Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She has extensive experience in applied research in the field of social and behavioural dimensions of public health. Dr. Baban was a regular Visiting Professor (2001-2008) at the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Public Health, Department Community Health Sciences, teaching Social and behavioural dimensions of public health in Central and Eastern Europe; and Social inequality and health disparities. She has been director and professor of summer school at Central Eastern University, Budapest on Gender, Inequality and Health. Dr. Baban is the Principal Investigator for Health Behaviour in School aged Children, Romania. A consistent focus of her work is addressing adverse childhood experiences and how abuse is related to risk factors for health, children and adolescents mental well-being. Prof. Baban worked as UNICEF consultant for prevention of violence against women and children in Albania, currently works as WHO consultant for child maltreatment measurement and prevention in Republic of Moldova. She has been project director and researcher for many international and national research grants on the health topics. Dr. Baban is a member of editorial board of several health / psychology journals. She has published more than 100 papers, books and chapters in international and national journals and publishers. In 2014 she was awarded with the title of Fellow of European Society of Health Psychology for outstanding contributions to the development of Health Psychology in Europe.
