Pediatric rheumatologist. Head of the Pediatric Rheumatology Department at the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, Barcelona, Spain. Doctor in Medicine from the University of Barcelona, ​​of which he is an Associate Professor.  He is currently the president of the Spanish Society of Pediatric Rheumatology (SERPE), an active member of the PRINTO (Pediatric Rheumatology International Trials Association), PRES (Pediatric Rheumatology European Society) and the AEP (Spanish Association of Pediatrics) among others.

Training and education for young professionals and specialists are one of his main concerns. He has been the Spanish national representative in the PRES Education and Training committee for the last years. Since 2013 he is the director of the master's degree in Pediatric Rheumatology at the University of Barcelona.

He is the director of the Group for the study of diseases due to immune dysfunction in Pediatrics (GEMDIP) recognized as a Pre-Consolidated Group and framed within the line on Infectious Diseases and Systemic Immune Response of the Sant Joan de Déu Research Institute (IRSJD).

He has participated as a researcher in 22 Research, development or innovation projects financed in competitive calls, and in 33 non-competitive projects with public or private administrations or entities.

Among the research lines of his team are the uveitis associated with juvenile idiopathic arthritis, auto-inflammatory diseases, systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis, juvenile dermatomyositis or Kawasaki's disease.

As a result he has co-authored more than 80 publications in Pediatric Rheumatology in international journals, of them more than 50 in the last 5 years (2013 to 2018), half in the first quartile (Q1) and 20 in the first decile.

He has been Vice President of the 17th European Pediatric Rheumatology Congress and 8th of the Spanish Society of Pediatric Rheumatology, Organizer of the 1st Forum of the Spanish Society of Pediatric Rheumatology, and the Spanish national meetings of uveitis related juvenile idiopathic arthritis, and has been involved as member of the scientific committee in several pediatric rheumatology meetings.
