Dr. Rajapakse is a Senior Associate Consultant in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minnesota, USA). She completed her Pediatrics residency training at BC Children’s Hospital (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) and Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship at Alberta Children’s Hospital (Calgary, Alberta, Canada).

 

She was the first graduate of the advanced fellowship training program in Pediatric Antimicrobial Stewardship at the University of Calgary in 2015, a program which she helped to create.  She completed the Gorgas Course in Clinical Tropical Medicine in 2014 and a Master’s Degree in Public Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (Boston, Massachusetts, USA) in 2016.  She is currently the Vice Chair of the Mayo Clinic Rochester Antimicrobial Stewardship program and the Medical Director of the Pediatric Antimicrobial Stewardship Program for the Mayo Clinic Children’s Center.  She has previously worked as a Consultant in the former Pandemic and Epidemic Diseases section of the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland to develop Natural History Research Protocols for the investigation of outbreaks caused by novel and emerging infectious diseases (e.g. Severe Acute Respiratory Illness outbreaks, Zika virus).
