Sophie D. Walsh is a practicing Clinical Psychologist and an Associate Professor in the Criminology Department of Bar Ilan University, Israel. She is a researcher in the Health Behaviors of School- aged Children (HBSC) International research project, in which she is the coordinator of the Violence and Injuries (VIP) Focus Group.

 

The VIP focuses on several areas of peer violence including bullying, cyber bullying, physical fighting, medically treated injuries, weapon carrying and they examine prevalence as well as correlates, determinants and outcomes related to adolescent involvement in peer violence. Professor Walsh’s research interests focus on adolescent risk behaviors and mental health, with an emphasis on violence, substance use and delinquency and she has a particular research focus on immigrant adolescent development. Her research papers have included an examination of the relationship between discrimination and involvement in peer violence and substance use.
